Head of Germany's debt agency resigns for personal reasons

BERLIN - Carl Heinz Daube, the head of Germany's debt agency, has handed in his resignation due to family-related reasons, the agency said on Thursday.

"I have asked for my contract, which was set to continue until Dec. 31, to be ended ahead of schedule," Mr Daube said. "The request for ending the contract was solely due to family reasons." Mr Daube has headed the agency since 2008. Germany, Europe's largest economy, has outstanding debt of 1.1 trillion euros (US$1.38 trillion). -- REUTERS
